Vertex Internet co-locates all of their equipment in a carrier-class facility in Lancaster, PA. This facility is a secure card access facility that supports diesel generator backup, battery backup, temperature and humidity control and FM 200 fire suppression technology. The datacenter is serviced by a 45Mb circuit fed into a SONET ring network topology, which feeds into the Internet backbone via any of 5 redundant points on the SONET ring.
All Vertex Internet rack mount servers are housed within APC NetShelter locked rack mount server cabinets. Each server is connected to an APC MasterSwitch remote rebooting device in the event a remote reboot is necessary.
Backup & Recovery Strategy
Vertex Internet maintains a LT0-2 Tape Autoloader, which has the capacity to remotely backup 9.6 TB of server data. Vertex Internet uses Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows NT 2000 Advanced Server. Each server maintains a Veritas Backup Exec Agent Accelerator License. Both on-site, off-site and disk based media sets are utilized. Off site media is stored locally in a bank vault.
Vertex Internet monitors each server 24x7x365. The following services are monitored: server ping, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP.
Each dedicated server is located behind two mirrored Checkpoint Firewalls. Each Checkpoint firewall is configured to protect your server from several popular Denial of Service attacks such as ping of death, SYN attacks, etc. We also provide customers with a Checkpoint Secure Remote client software to enable secure VPN connections between you and your dedicated server.
Clustered Email Strategy
We offer clustered Exchange 2003 Advanced Server services to all customers. Our active-active cluster solution offers load balancing, load sharing and hot-failover for fault tolerance.
