Capitol Building

A state-of-the-art control system has made this commercial building more integrated, efficient and cost-effective to operate, reinforcing our commitment to delivering long-term value and sustainability.

This project involved implementing advanced control systems to improve efficiency and integration with the Building Management System (BMS) at a major Category A and A+ office building in Bracknell, Berkshire. In collaboration with the client and our supply chain, Vertex led the transition to cutting-edge Trend IQ4NC controls and undertook a comprehensive software update.

The upgrades led to significant improvements in the building’s M&E infrastructure. Streamlined control functions enhanced operational efficiency, and more intuitive interfaces made the system easier to use and data flows simpler to interpret and analyse. Crucially, maintenance costs are now lower and electricity use has fallen by 45%.

Key challenges and solutions

  • Software development: Writing bespoke software for the downflow unit to improve functionality and integration.
  • Hardware upgrades: Replacing CIAT keypad/controllers with advanced Trend IQ4NC controls, which integrate seamlessly BMS.
  • Installation and integration: Isolating and removing outdated controllers, and installing display-free Trend IQEco controllers to minimise visual impact and enhance control precision. System graphics were updated for consistent visibility and control across the BMS.
